Our history

MORE THAN 80 YEARS EXPERIENCE

Since the establishment of Breston in 1938, it has grown as family business that started as a blacksmith shop and now is a respectable machine factory with a worldwide market.

The foundation of the current company was laid in 1938 by blacksmith Joost Abresch sr. In the course of time he focused on manufacturing handling equipment and installations for the agricultural sector.

From 1966 till 2002 the company was run by his two sons, Jan and Matthijs Abresch. They expanded the company to become a machine factory that became worldwide known in the (heavy) industry as well as in the agricultural sector.

Since 2002 Breston is led by the third generation. The two sons of Jan Abresch, namely Joost and Jaap Abresch. The current management focusses on relieving customers of any worries. Breston doesn’t just produce the facility in house but also takes care where needed of all facility maintenance on location.

Since 2006 the fourth generation Abresch is working within the company. We are building on a future where high values of the family will remain.

Our specialism is the production of fixed and mobile transport systems for each application, either standard or custom made.

Industrial history

KNOWN WORLDWIDE

Because of the central location between the ports of Rotterdam, Moerdijk and Antwerp our place in the bulk industry started growing at the beginning of the 1980’s.

Customers started asking for mobile ship loaders with built-in weighing systems. The floating bascule was developed. These machines gained popularity due to their high capacity and reliability. This unique concept is applicable in divers range of products and it has grown to a worldwide concept.

These years of experience has led to the fact that Breston has developed itself into a specialist in the transport of every kind of dry bulk product. Our machines can be installed with weighing systems, dust control and ATEX certificates.

Agricultural history

FROM SHOEING HORSES TO PRODUCING STORAGE HANDLING EQUIPMENT LINES

Joost Abresch sr. was a blacksmith, he opened his own blacksmith shop in 1938 in Nieuw-Tonge. Like every other blacksmith, main business was shoeing horses and small reparations in the area.

Because Goeree-Overflakkee was an agricultural region, the switch was made to agricultural machines. Tippers and other machinery were produced for farmers in the area.

This has expanded to making complete handling lines with eye for high quality and reliability.

Third generation

THE CURRENT GENERATION.

In 2002 the company has transferred to the third generation, Joost and Jaap Abresch.

The family values of the company are still very important for its current management. Reliability and building long term relationships with our customers is the most meaningful example of this. A lot of our customers have a connection with us for many years and appreciate and value our ways of working.

Breston characterises itself by constantly developing its products as well as reacting and listening to market demands. The input of our customers is essential. Listening and reacting to their questions has made our specialism the success it is today.
